The year is 2579. The human race has colonized our local galactic neighborhood with the invention of the Alcubierre Warp Drive in 2235. The Alcubierre Drive bent Einsteins rules to allow for travel at superluminal speeds using dark energy. One space explorer, Julien Legrand, set out with his crew at the turn of the 25th century to explore farther than humans have ever reached before. His crew however went missing never to be seen again.

However, a year ago, a station on Mars (Star system: Sol) detected a mysterious signal coming from the general direction of the Libra constellation. It was a broken SOS signal coming from Julien Legrand. Reconstructing the signal resulted in information suggesting that Legrand may have found the first sign of intelligent extraterrestrial life. It hinted at alien technology that may allow for immortality. Rumors of this message spread across the known worlds prompting people from all over to set out in search for Legrand and his "treasure".
